I’m thrilled to announce new gardening education classes, a special herbal newsletter, and more!

Announcing the new Home Garden Joy Academy, a place where gardeners and wanna-be gardeners can learn everything they ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask about gardening!

We open our virtual doors on April 1, 2021. Let me give you a sneak peek into what’s been on my desk this March.

Gardening Education: Online Classes, Herb Newsletter, More

Many years ago, a seed was planted in the back of my mind to open an online academy dedicated just to gardening. Oh sure, there were plenty of classes available at the local cooperative extension, at events, and at garden centers. I enjoyed taking classes in person. But what about people who lived far away from such classes or who just didn’t want to bother with in-person learning? What then?

Now, with the pandemic restrictions still in place, online learning has become more important than ever. Online communities, classes, live streaming and events have filled the gap created by the need to stay at home and maintain social distancing.

Announcing the Home Garden Joy Academy on Teachable

On April 1, 2021, Home Garden Joy will launch what we envision will become a comprehensive and coordinated suite of online learning materials: the Home Garden Joy Academy. The first class, Easy Indoor Herb Gardening, walks you through how to select, grow, and care for herbs grown indoors. It includes video lectures, a downloadable textbook, and downloadable resource guides, plant care sheets, and recipes.

Anyone who signs up before April 25, 2021, will automatically receive access to Butterfly Garden Magic, the next mini course, FREE!

New Newsletter for Herbalists (and Herb Enthusiasts)

Another new project in the works is a special edition newsletter for herbalists, especially Christian herbalists.  In 2018, I felt the inspiration during my prayer and meditation time to start a group for Christian herbalists on Facebook. Since founding The Christian Herbalists, many people have written to me looking for herbal resources and information without paganism in every page.

In response, I’m creating a new subscription-based online magazine dedicated solely to herbs! The Christian Herbalist will be available to all, but it will not feature many of the pagan concepts found in typical herbal magazines. Just information, recipes, and resources to help you learn about the wonderful world of herbs.

Our Blog Is Growing, Too!

As Home Garden Joy enters its (gulp) 14th year, we continue to add resources, articles, free videos on our YouTube channel, and so much more to enhance you knowledge, skills, and yes, JOY in the world of gardening.

I don’t know what I would do without my garden. It is my exercise, my meditation, my healthful resource. If it can be yours, too, I am happy.

Here’s to growing together in 2021!

The Winter Garden – Enjoying the Seasons

Happy Holidays! Here at Home Garden Joy, I’m celebrating the “winter garden” – what’s left of the fall vegetables, any herbs that haven’t been nipped by the frost, and the bounty of  canned goods I’ve set aside for just such a season. Here’s what Hubby and I have been up to at Seven Oaks Farm.

Harvesting Winter Vegetables this Week: Abundance!

I finally got some time this week to harvest the winter vegetables. The hard frosts we’ve experienced over the past several weeks killed some of the vegetation above ground, but the root vegetables were fine, and they tasted delicious.
