The amaryllis bulb, at week 9, amazes me every time I walk into the plant room. It’s like Jack and the Beanstalk. Each day, the bud and leaf appear to grow several centimeters overnight, as if by magic. The other leaves are now starting to grow. The tips are taking on a darker green color, and around the ridged area below the visible leaves, more leaves are starting to emerge. It’s quite the vigorous little plant now, and so tall and lanky I coudn’t photograph it in the plant room; you can’t distinguish it easily from the orchid behind it.<\/p>\n

I moved it to another room to photograph it, below. The stick in the pot is the same one that’s been in the pot each week. You can use it to gauge the size of the flower and leaves as we’ve watched it grow together, week after week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
