What Is Home Garden Joy?
It’s a website, a community, and a movement to bring back old-fashioned kitchen gardens, cooking from scratch, and preserving the harvest.
Here you will find everything you need to transform a ‘black thumb’ into a gorgeous garden overflowing with tasty vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Plus, you’ll learn how to savor the harvest all year long through cooking, canning, and preserving the harvest.
Meet the Gardener: Writer Jeanne Grunert
Hi – I’m Jeanne!
I’ve grown a kitchen garden in six pots on an apartment deck and in a tiny urban backyard on the outskirts of New York City.
In 2007, I moved to rural Virginia and started an orchard and garden on a small farm near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our farm, Seven Oaks, grows an abundance of fruit, vegetables, and herbs.
I’m a certified Virginia Master Gardener, a former “Ask the Expert” gardening columnist for Virginia Gardener magazine, and a gardening book author.
But most of all, I’m like you – a wife, godmother to two beautiful children, and “auntie” to my many nieces, nephews, and young people that I meet. I cherish my home and garden and love nothing more than spending time digging in the soil, watching the birds at my feeder, or enjoying a cup of herbal tea and a good book.
Home Garden Joy: A Community for Gardeners
I’m building a community of gardeners interested in growing a kitchen garden filled with abundance: fruit trees, raised beds overflowing with vegetables, tasty and healing herbs. Whether through our Facebook group for Christian herbalists or at one of my local gardening presentations, I walk you through the steps you need to grow and enjoy luscious edibles from your landscape.
